On the Road for a Cause
This year’s trek achieved its fourth highest fundraising total ever, raising around AUD 1.63 million and drawing 255 participants in 109 vehicles — the largest turnout since COVID. What’s more, media coverage and social-media engagement soared, amplifying the stories of participants and the cause beyond the journey
Community & Regional Impact
Beyond the funds raised, the event delivered a real economic boost to towns along the route — around $75,000 spent per day by participants in regional communities, and nearly $19,000 raised through school raffles as part of the program.
Looking Ahead: 2026 in Tasmania
The newsletter also revealed that the 2026 Outback Car Trek will head to Tasmania for the first-ever time. Expect challenging routes, new communities, spectacular scenery — and more fundraising for the RFDS.
Getting Involved
For those interested in joining, entries are open now with updated forms, early bird offers, and plenty of creative fundraising ideas. Teams are encouraged to tap into local sponsorships, digital fundraising platforms, and community events to maximise their impact.
This is more than a drive — it’s a purpose-driven adventure that brings people together, supports vital services in remote Australia, and creates stories well beyond the road.
